Wyoming Catholic College - High School Summer Program

Wyoming Catholic College is offering a $150 discount for all students of private Catholic Schools and homeschooled students for the 2016 PEAK Summer Programs.  Please just contact the Admissions Office at admissions@wyomingcatholic.org if you need more information!  The 14-day programs run June 25-July 9 and July 10-24.  Each includes 9 days of classes (Science, Humanities, Theology, and Philosophy), horseback rides, rock-climbing and rappelling, and a 4-day backpacking trip.  It's an adventure, and not only for students with previous experience, but also for those first trying out the Liberal Arts/Wilderness experience!  It's been changing hearts and minds since 2010, even for students who don't attend WCC.  That's all we can ask for!

The $150 discount knocks the total cost down to $845 (including a round-trip shuttle from the Denver International Airport, reading materials, and backpacking equipment).  Plus, if students decide to apply for WCC and commit by December 31 of their senior year, the total cost of the Summer Program will be credited against their freshman year tuition!

Pray Twice - Join the Choir!

The Choir is always welcoming congregants willing to learn & sing the treasures of the Catholic Church's musical legacy written specifically for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. You need not have had any previous training to join the choir.  You will be taught to read musical notation and be given coaching.  You will find that singing the entire Mass is an unspeakable joy that will draw you more deeply into the Holy Mysteries!  For more information, contact the Choir Director

Pentecost Plenary Indulgence

From the The Enchiridion Of Indulgences, item 61:  A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who devoutly recite the hymn Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest. But a plenary indulgence is granted, if the hymn is recited publicly on the 1st of January or on the feast of Pentecost.

Veni Creator Spiritus

Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest,
And in our souls take up your rest;
Come with your grace and heavenly aid
To fill the hearts which you have made.
O Comforter, to you we cry,
O heavenly gift of God Most High,
O fount of life and fire of love,
And sweet anointing from above.
You in your sevenfold gifts are known;
You, finger of God's hand we own;
You, promise of the Father, you
Who do the tongue with power imbue.
Kindle our senses from above,
And make our hearts o'erflow with love;
With patience firm and virtue high
The weakness of our flesh supply.
Far from us drive the foe we dread,
And grant us your peace instead;
So shall we not, with you for guide,
Turn from the path of life aside.
Oh, may your grace on us bestow
The Father and the Son to know;
And you, through endless times confessed,
Of both the eternal Spirit blest.
Now to the Father and the Son,
Who rose from death, be glory given,
With you, O holy Comforter,
Henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen.

New home for the TLM in California

From the Monterey Bay Area Latin Mass CommunityStarting Trinity Sunday, May 22, the old Sacred Heart Church in Hollister, California, will become the new site for the Traditional Latin Mass in the Monterey Bay Area.  A Missa Cantata will be offered on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in the historic church located at 680 College Street in Hollister. A reception will follow in the courtyard outside the church.

Although much work remains to be done, the Latin Mass community is restoring the sanctuary of the old church, following as much as possible the original design. The restoration work and other improvements will continue in the months to come.

The Latin Mass community, which has been active in the Monterey Diocese for eight years, most recently at the chapel of a Catholic cemetery near Salinas, will now become part of the Hollister parish. It has been the only public Mass regularly offered in the ancient rite in the Monterey Bay Area.  Monterey Bishop Richard Garcia has supported the restoration of the Mass and of Sacred Heart Church, as has Fr. Claudio Cabrera, the new pastor of the Hollister parish.
