Father Joseph Scerbo - Requiem Aeternam Dona Ei

Please pray for the repose of the soul for Fr. Joe Scerbo S.A.  He died March 19th at 2:10 am from complications related to pancreatic cancer.  While Fr. Joe fought this running battle over the past few years, he took it upon himself to learn the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.  His effort was brought to fruition for a time at St. Paschal Baylon Parish in Thousand Oaks, CA.  He presided over a monthly offering of the Traditional Latin Mass until such time as it was agreed upon to concentrate all efforts entirely in support of the TLM community at St. Mary Magdalen.  Possessed of an over-sized Franciscan heart,  Fr. Joe was known and loved for his extraordinary efforts to bring the Gospel and the sacraments to as many people as could be reached during all hours of the day.

The Vigil and Funeral Mass for Fr. Joe have not yet been set, but they will take place at Saint Paschal Baylon Church next week, as the head of Fr. Joe’s order, the Franciscans of Graymoor, will be flying out from New York for the services.  More information will be posted when the arrangements have been confirmed.
